InfoPro conducted for FAO and FairTrade Lebanon a market system study. The general objective of the study was to understand opportunities in value chains for the women in the agriculture sector, especially for women cooperatives and associations in the agro-food sector. Four value chains were assessed: Plant Products, Agro-Food Processing, Animal Production, and Fisheries and Aquaculture. The study targeted Akkar, North Lebanon, South Lebanon, and Baalbek-Hermel. The Gender Analysis of Value Chains was based on primary data and secondary data analysis. In total, 30 Key Informant Interviews, 28 focus groups, and 1,400 farmers/herders, fishermen / women, firm owners, and other individuals were interviewed.
