UNDP: Household Assessment of e-Waste

A damage assessment study was conducted by UNDP and the Ministry of Environment (MoE) post the Port of Beirut explosion. The assessment revealed that 23 percent of buildings have generated e-waste. Global E-Waste Statistics have also indicated that Lebanon is generating 50,000 tons of e-waste annually. To properly regulate the sector, there is a need for measurable data. A total of 1,280 Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews were conducted with households nationwide. The emphasis was on Greater Beirut and Mount Lebanon. The survey assisted UNDP in gaining a better understanding of the e-waste sector and the necessary measures required to improve the status of the sector.
