AVSI: Integration of Child Protection in Education

AVSI in collaboration with War Child Holland and Terre des Hommes Italy is undertaking a two-year programme titled “Back to the Future II” (BTF II). The programme seeks to promote the enrolment and the retention of refugee and vulnerable Lebanese children aged between three to 17 years old in formal education. It also incorporates formal and non-formal activities for pre-school and school-aged children including Early Childhood Education (ECE), Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BLN), and Homework Support (HWS). The programme adopts an integrated Child Protection (CP) and Education approach by embedding CP activities within the programme. InfoPro was commissioned to assess and provide evidence-based recommendations on the impact of child protection (CP) integration in the education response within the Back to the Future programme. A three-phase methodology centered around qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis was conducted. The methodology entailed a desk review / literature review of programme documents and a review of Education in Emergency (EiE) standards and Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS). This was followed by conducting primary research consisting of nine Key Informant Interviews, six Focus Group Discussions, and 280 surveys with caregivers and children.
